The Friendly Computer Courses I and II were written by our Senior Tutor, Sara Barnes, to fill a gap in the range of courses that the centre provides. They follow on from the Introduction to IT course and can give the learner a wider understanding of computers. They can also prepare a learner for a loner course such as the Diploma, New CLAIT or the ECDL.

The courses are administered by the Cockermouth Adult Education Centre and you need to email them to book a place on one of these courses.

These courses are not accreditted and are ideal for someone who is only interested in improving their skills without the need for a formal qulaification at the end of it all.

What is a floppy disk and how do I use it??

Week 3
Practise using different tools within word processing.

Week 4
Different styles of layout of text.

Week 5
What is a tab?

What is a CD-ROM?

Further practise researching data on CD-ROMS.

Week 8
What is the Internet and how to get on to it?

Week 9
Further practise on the Internet.

Week 10
You will now be able to produce a document that looks professional and incorporates a variety of word processing skills.
